Women’s hair dye: Good to know!
There are many different reasons to dye your hair.
Sometimes we simply want a deeper, more expressive color, sometimes we want to completely change our look with hair color or hide the first signs of gray hair.
Depending on the desired effect, there are different types of hair color.
Hairdressers often think that only they, the professionals, can dye our hair beautifully.
But we usually change the color of our hair ourselves.
We don’t have much time and the process seems easy.
But the results aren’t always the same.
Please note that this article is simply a guide, and we recommend that you visit an experienced hairdresser or colorist for your coloring.
That’s why we’ve created a mini-guide
To achieve a beautiful platinum color, you need to bleach your hair with a lightener suited to your hair type. This can only be done by an experienced hairdresser. To achieve beautiful platinum, you need to bleach with a bleach that matches your hair type.
What should you look for when choosing a color?
It’s certainly not the shade of the model’s hair in the packaging photo.
They’re there to tell you that you’re looking for a platinum or brown dye.
The photos on the back of the packaging tell you what color you’ll get.
They show the starting shade of the hair for which the color is intended, and how it should look after coloring.
Check your hair color in daylight before deciding.
Note: This is a tip that you can use if you have natural, untanned hair.
To radically change the color of your colored hair, it’s best to visit your hairdresser.
Your hairdresser will know what to expect from the combination of different artificial pigments.
How can I match my hair color to my personality?
There are a few rules to follow when choosing your own hair color.
People with dark eyes and reddish complexions wear warm shades of red or brown well.
The classic rule is to avoid cold blond hair.
But now that the rock trend is in full swing, dark-skinned women can also wear their hair very light.
But don’t forget to include some roots.
This way, blond doesn’t stick directly to the face and looks more natural.
Dark-skinned, light-eyed women look best with dark browns and red hues like mahogany.
These colors emphasize the lightness of the irises and don’t give your skin an earthy tone.
If you have fair skin and light eyes, choose blonde, brown or red hair.

Note: people with blotchy or reddened skin should not color their hair red or russet, as this accentuates imperfections.
Browns or cool blondes are best for them.
For classic Slavic beauty, with a fair complexion and eyes (but not in cold tones), warm blond, red or hazel brown hair is suitable.
How many shades can you lighten your own hair?
By one or two.
For example, you can lighten your hair from light brown to dark blonde.
This guarantees a good result.
You can easily return to your original color. Bleaching your hair more intensively on your own is risky, because you don’t know what color you’ll get.
Platinum-blonde dye won’t give naturally dark hair a very light color.
It will give you a transitional color.
For example, black hair becomes red, brown hair becomes orange and dark blond hair becomes yellow.
To achieve beautiful, shiny platinum hair, you need to bleach (remove the natural pigment) using a bleaching agent suited to your hair type.
This can only be done by an experienced hairdresser.
He or she will do the bleaching gradually, over several visits, so as not to damage your hair.
The darker the original color, the longer the lightening process will last.
Is it a good idea to darken your own hair?
No, only minor color changes should be made at home of a maximum of two shades to lighten, three to darken.
The first time you color your hair with a dark home dye, it gives your light hair a more intense shade than advertised on the package. Why? Because manufacturers assume that it will be heavily faded within the first week, and they don’t want it to fade too quickly.
Chocolate browns, for example, initially appear black.
It’s not your first color, but has your hair been damaged by bleaching?
Color can be uneven.
Where cuticles are damaged or broken, more pigment penetrates.
This is why hairdressers approach the customer during coloring and see how the hair changes color at different lengths.
If the process isn’t going well, they quickly make corrections, e.g. by adding dye, correcting the color.
You shouldn’t do it yourself.
Which colors last the longest?
Warm browns, because the pigments in this color fade most slowly.
The least durable are reds and intense reds.
And cool browns quickly transform into warm tones under the influence of sunlight and chlorine.
These agents act like hydrogen peroxide, lightening and warming the hair’s artificial pigment.
Do ammonia dyes damage hair?
As long as you follow the instructions on the packaging and your hair is healthy, this shouldn’t be the case.
Ammonia is only needed to open the hair cuticles, after which it evaporates immediately.
The molecules that replace ammonia in hair dyes have the same function, but they don’t have an irritating odor.
However, they don’t all disappear from your hair in the blink of an eye.
How do I colour my roots?
Women usually apply color to the roots, leave it on for a while, then apply the rest of the color to the entire length of their hair and wait a little longer.
This is a mistake!
After four applications of color, the hair below the roots will be damaged and, during the next treatment, will absorb too much pigment or will not be able to be colored.
As the cuticles are broken, the pigment penetrates the hair and disappears immediately on rinsing.
To properly color your roots, apply the coloring product to your roots and, after the time indicated on the packaging, wet your head. Don’t rinse out the product, but massage it into your hair as you would a shampoo when you wash.
In contact with water, the color takes on a creamy consistency, and the pigment easily penetrates already-colored hair, refreshing its color.
Have you massaged your head?
Wait 5-10 minutes and rinse out the color.
Will the color last longer or be more intense if you keep it longer than the instructions say?
No, and you can, however, damage your hair.
Nor does wrapping your hair in aluminum foil or using a hair dryer to heat it up help intensify the color.
These methods only speed up the coloring process.
However, when you bleach your hair, they can actually harm you. Why? Because as long as there’s product in your hair, there’s oxidation. Because as long as there’s product in your hair, there’s oxidation.
Think of your hair as a glass tube filled with color beads and pigments.

When you bleach your hair with hydrogen peroxide, the “beads” are destroyed.
If you speed up the process – that’s how heat works – but don’t shorten the coloring time as a result, the glass tube will be completely empty.
In the case of hair, this means that the core of the hair is damaged. The result? It will lose its elasticity, become curly and brittle.
What to do if you’re not satisfied with your color?
You absolutely must not use clarifying shampoos, which is the advice you’ll find on the Internet.
These types of products work intensely on the hair’s surface and are designed to remove impurities, silicones and residues from styling products or temporary coloring.
However, they don’t penetrate the hair, where the dye pigment is located.
Frequent washing with a clarifying shampoo can also damage your hair, as the natural lipid layer, which seals the cuticles, disappears.
A better effect is achieved by washing your hair daily with a mild shampoo.
The pigments rinse out more quickly, the color fades after just two weeks, your hair remains healthy and you can dye it any shade you like.
Only an experienced hairdresser can do this in less time.
How often should I color my hair?
Once a month is enough, otherwise you risk damaging your hair.
In addition, hair dyes are developed in such a way that an intense color lasts about 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the shade.
Nor is it a good idea to color your hair less often. But why not? After a month, when you have a centimetre of regrowthyou can remove it yourself.
After three months, when the hair has grown back three centimetres, you won’t be able to dye it evenly.
Heat accelerates the dyeing process, so near the skin, the color will be more intense than at the roots.
When is the best time to stop dyeing?
During the first trimester of pregnancy.
The inhalation of chemical vapors, particularly during bleaching, is not recommended during the early stages of fetal development.
Is it necessary to care for color-treated hair?
For 2 to 3 weeks, whatever the condition and type of hair, you should use regenerating conditioners.
This will close the cuticles and the color will fade more slowly.
Next, it’s advisable to use conditioners for colored hair, preferably formulated for a specific shade.
This prolongs the life of the colorant and prevents pigments from fading.
Artificial hair color fades faster in summer
Protect your hair with hair cosmetics containing UV filters in shampoos.
These products not only protect your hair color from the sun, but also from color changes caused by frequent bathing in chlorinated water.
You should also use conditioners that extend the life of the color.
A regenerating treatment is a must after the summer!
Allergy test before coloring your hair
How can I start colouring my hair at home? Color manufacturers recommend a sensitization test.
It’s not complicated, but it does take time.
Simply apply a little dye to the skin of the elbow crease.
Wash it off after a few minutes and monitor your skin for the next 48 hours.
Allergy symptoms include itching, burning or a rash.
If you don’t notice any of these symptoms during this period, you can be sure that you’re not allergic to the hair color you’ve chosen.
Prepare your hair for treatment
The results of coloring depend very much on the condition of your hair before the coloring treatment.
If your hair is healthy and vibrant, the color will last longer and be more intense.
It is not advisable to wash your hair before coloring. Why? The sebum in your hair naturally protects your hair from the colorant when it’s slightly oily.
While it’s not advisable to wash your hair immediately before coloring, it’s a good idea to brush your hair.
This removes dust and dirt from your hair and distributes sebum around it. Note: A littleMyla Bella oil oil is desirable.
However, if your hair is already very dirty, it’s best to wash it gently.
Care for color-treated hair
How do you care for your color-treated hair so that it stays in good condition and retains its fresh color and shine for as long as possible?
It’s worth investing in professional hair care products so you don’t have to “torture” your hair and color it too often.
Without proper care, color fades and loses its strength more quickly, hair becomes dull and loses its healthy, fresh look, and you’ll quickly be tempted to color it again – it’s best for your hair not to color it too often.
That’s why specialized oils, conditioners, masks and shampoos for color-treated hair contain specially balanced ingredients designed to protect color.
At the same time, they care for your hair, so you can enjoy healthy locks that are always in your favorite, saturated color.

Advice
Always be sure to read the instructions before starting to color your hair yourself. Even if you’ve used the product several times before, the manufacturer may have changed some of the ingredients.
What’s more, the application mechanism for different products is similar, but not identical.
Some are applied to dry, unwashed hair, while others are applied to damp hair.
This makes all the difference.
If you’ve had your hair permed, wait at least two weeks before coloring.
Never color your hair if your scalp is irritated.
Even though there are ever more effective products on the market that have a gel-like consistency and run out of your hair less easily, it’s best to wear an old blouse when coloring.
For the same reason, keep an old towel handy.
You can use a cotton bud soaked in alcohol or soapy water to remove any residue from your scalp, but with darker shades, this isn’t always so easy.
