Babassu oil is extracted from the nuts of the Cohune palm (Orbignya Cohune).
Its appearance and properties are similar to those of coconut and palm oil.
It is a 100% natural raw material recommended for cosmetics designed to moisturize, strengthen and soften the skin.
It contains around 70% lipids, including a high content of lauric and myristic acids.

The Babassu palm contains four large, hard seeds, inside each of which is a seed rich in oil (67%), protein, starch and sugar.
The palm grows in the river valleys of Brazil, where it is the most widely cultivated.
The seeds are used to press the oil, which has a melting point of 21-30° C. In cosmetics, it is important mainly as a raw material for surfactants and cosmetic intermediates.
Its composition is similar to that of coconut oil.

Babassu oil has a melting point close to human body temperature.
This characteristic property determines the oil’s spreading and absorption capacity.
Combining the oil with moisturizing agents in cosmetic products confers beneficial properties for the care of dry skin.
Each natural raw material has specific properties and uses.
