What is gluconolactone and sodium benzoate?
Gluconolactone is a PHA acid, a sugar acid, which is a natural component of the skin.

The proposed preservation system is approved by Ecocert so it’s safe and healthy for use in organic cosmetics.
Its main use is in the prevention of bacteria and fungi that could develop in all water-based products.

Where can I find sodium benzoate?

Sodium benzoate is mainly used in foods (e.g. ketchup, pickles), fruit juices and beverages, which are naturally characterized by an acid pH.
The reason for its use is that it converts most efficiently to benzoic acid in the pH range 2.5 to 4.5, thus presenting the strongest preservative properties.
